Many people assume that the seven heavens mentioned in the Qur’an are the same as Jannah — but they are entirely different creations of Allah. The seven heavens (as-samāwāt as-sab‘a) are vast layers of the universe, stacked one above the other, created to house celestial bodies, angels, and to serve as realms of divine command. Each heaven has its own beauty, with stars adorning the lowest heaven and the angels filling the higher realms. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ crossed these heavens during the Mi‘raj, meeting Prophets like Yusuf (AS) in the third heaven and Ibrāhīm (AS) in the seventh. But Jannah — Paradise — lies beyond these seven heavens, above and outside the created universe. It is the eternal Garden prepared for the believers, with unimaginable beauty, rivers of milk and honey, and pleasures no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined. Above Jannah is the Throne of Allah (al-‘Arsh). The seven heavens are part of the temporal creation that will eventually be folded up on the Day of Judgment. But Jannah is eternal, a reward never to perish. This distinction reminds us: the heavens are vast, but Jannah is far greater and everlasting. #alhamdulillah #allahuakbar #deen #deenoverduniya #muhammadﷺ #quranforliving
