SL vs ZIM Live Match Today, 38th T20 Match Live, Venue: R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo | Cricket Live Scores & Commentary | Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe Live Match Today Scores | Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe, 38th Match #slvszim #livescore #slvszimlive Preview When: Match 38, Thursday, February 19 at 3:00 PM local time Where: R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo What to expect: For a ground historically known to favor spin, the wicket-split between spinners and pacers so far in the tournament has been fairly even (31-26). The venue has offered the least drift for spinners although it ranks fourth among the World Cup venues as far as the average turn goes. Given this is a 3 PM start that eliminates the factor of dew, spin may just have a more prominent role to play. There is a thunderstorm on the radar too, which could impact the game. It has been a fairytale for Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka were struggling to buy a win in the T20Is a few months ago. Zimbabwe lost to Uganda in the African Qualifiers and failed to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Sikandar Raza-led side qualified for the main round this time around. The Chevrons were given a quite tough group with Australia, Ireland, Sri Lanka and Oman as their counterparts in Group B. It has been a dramatic turnaround in the last couple of weeks. The 2021 champions, Australia, have been knocked out of the tournament in the group stage, with both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe qualifying for the Super 8s. Sri Lanka are set to play against England, New Zealand and Pakistan in the next round, while Zimbabwe are set to face the West Indies, India and South Africa. The two unbeaten teams in Group B so far meet in their final league match at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday (February 19). The Lankans have made the most of their home advantage, with comfortable wins against Ireland, Oman and Australia. On the flip side, Zimbabwe dominated Oman before stunning Australia to break open the group. With Sri Lanka outplaying the Aussies first with a good comeback with the ball and then with Pathum Nissanka's masterclass, the Raza-led unit had everything under control. And a washout against Ireland in Pallekele did the rest on Tuesday. Sri Lanka were taken to the cleaners in the powerplay before Dushan Hemantha, Dunith Wellalage, and Kamindu Mendis scripted a brilliant comeback and eventually got support from Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana. Kusal Perera failed after replacing out-of-form Kamil Mishara, but according to the batting coach Vikram Rathour, Perera is set for an extended run. On the face of it, there is nothing riding on this contest in terms of qualification scenarios with the Super Eights draw locked in. Yet, with both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe staying unbeaten so far, this is perhaps the perfect opportunity for their paths to collide before the Super Eights swing by.
