Learn with us in Wales | National Star

National Star in Wales is a vibrant day college for young people aged 16 to 25 with a wide range of physical and learning difficulties and disabilities. We take a truly person centred and holistic approach to education, creating personalised programmes that reflect each learner’s future aspirations, their educational goals, and their Individual Development Plan outcomes. Everything we do is focused on building confidence, self advocacy, self care, and independence. Our learners benefit from specialist therapeutic input, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and support from our emotional wellbeing team. Each young person also has an individualised care plan designed not only to meet their needs, but to empower them to take greater autonomy in all aspects of their daily life. At College, social inclusion is at the heart of our work. We actively promote opportunities for learners to make friendships, connect with others, and feel part of a supportive community. We encourage every learner to express themselves, make choices, and have their voice heard. We champion multi sensory learning, making full use of our dedicated multisensory classroom and sensory room. These spaces help us tailor learning to each individual, enabling our students to engage in meaningful and motivating ways. Life skills development is embedded throughout the college experience - whether that’s practising daily living tasks in our fully equipped life skills flat, gaining confidence in our adapted kitchen, or learning how to navigate and participate in the local community. Work related learning plays a key role in our curriculum. Learners take part in a range of internal and external work experience placements, as well as enterprise activities that build confidence, practical skills, and real world understanding. It is rare to work in a place filled with such incredible young people, and the same can be said for our staff.
