This is the second of a two part series of videos in the Installation and Configuration of TrueNAS-SCALE including the Setup of Windows Users Home Directory. In part 1, I configured the Virtual Machine with mirrored drives and installed the TrueNAS-SCALE Operating System on VMware Workstation Pro. In this video I will configure TrueNAS-SCALE environment, setup Windows users home directory and assign full control permission of windows users and administrator 1. Configure Network Interface Card with 192.168.1.8 IP Address Reboot to ensure IP Address binds properly with interface. 2. Configure the Domain Name, DNS Servers, and Default Gateway, verify TrueNAS Host record does not exist on our DNS Server and then Reboot. 3. Configure Active directory Services and always ensure status Healthy. 4. From our DNS Server manually create the Host and Associated Pointer Record of TrueNAS 5. Edit the properties of our test Windows user’s email required when creating TrueNAS local users, Microsoft Account and home directory mapped to drive z. Read the warning and ignore it. Users should have mapped z: drive when logged in. 6. Create Local Users using the same username with their Windows Account Note: Creating a Local user will also create a local group with the same name 7. Set SMB service to Start Automatically 8. Create a Mirrored Storage Pool 9. Create Datasets for Windows Users Home Directory. 10 Configure each user Full Control Permission with their corresponding Dataset (Home Directory) and allow Administrator Full Control Permission to all Datasets. 11. Configure each Datasets as SMB Shared Directory. 12. Test Login as a user, verify mapped z: drive configured as windows user home directory Create and delete folders and files to test permissions From Network open TrueNAS Computer, access with the folders other than their own should be denied. Administrator should have Full Access to all folders
