_THE 10 STAGES OF CUPID'S EFFECTS So the 10 stages of Cupid's effects were not originally contextualized as the symptoms of love sickness, instead they were given as the general effects of intense love (devotion), or cupid's arrows, especially in the context of devotion to Krsna, whose devotees were driven so mad with devotion they descended into chaos (or in the case of Krisna, ascended into godhood) through the stages of Cupid's effects. When positive, one descends through these stages, experiencing ever more intense feelings of devotion for one's chosen diety, and the "death" stage ideally symbolizes the merge of the devotee to the deva. But, of course, when negative and especially when unrequited, we can expect to see similar behavior patterns as have been observed in this present video, and the "death" stage is far less ideal, as it often suggest a very ugly, embarassing death in an attempt to secure one's object of desire. I have, for the purpose of this video, called these stages the symptoms of "love sickness", but, again, these stages refer to the general effects of cupid's arrows and can be interpreted differently as per context. It is "love sickness" when one is struck but left to bleed alone. It is "love sickness" when one is struck but one's object of desire responds with contempt. This "love sickness" is inherent to the themes of Rohini nakshatra. Here is the list again: 1. Love at first sight, 2. Obsession, 3. Persistence, 4. Sleeplessness, 5. Emaciation, 6. Disinterest in life, 7. Shamelessness, 8. Madness, 9. Being stunned, 10. Death. _SERPENT A distinction must be made between the sexual animal of a nakshatra and its otherwise animal symbols. Let us take Aslesha. This nakshatra is symbolized by the serpent, but its sexual animal (which describes its sexual behaviour) is the cat, which suggests that although it has clinging tendencies, it is more avoidant and anxious when it comes to true intimacy. Despite Aslesha's clinging, it can wrestle against being vulnerable. Rohini's sexual animal is the serpent, suggesting that from a romantic and sexual, suggesting that in a romantic context, all it wants is to twist and writhe in passionat love. It is possessive, an perhaps too sexual. Even when it comes to seduction and romance, Rohini and Ashlesha differ. With Ashlehsa being more evasive and the stereotypical "tease" who tries to pull you and deceive you that something will happen but doesn't (never really feeling comfortable enough in a relationship) ; and Rohini jumping completely into "in love" mode, and throwing caution to the wind, willing to be married within minutes.
