African MPs in Erongo Region to See Namibia’s Green Hydrogen Progress African Members of Parliament are currently in Namibia’s Erongo Region visiting pioneering green hydrogen projects. They’ve expressed genuine pride in what we’ve achieved so far in this once “strange” and new sector—an industry that is quickly becoming a cornerstone of our country’s green industrialisation ambitions. Tomorrow, we move from site visits to formal dialogue sessions at the Namibia Parliamentary Green Investment Dialogue in Walvis Bay. Organised by Climate Parliament and UNIDO under the Parliamentarians for Climate Finance project, the event is designed to equip African legislators with the tools to mobilise climate finance and shape policy frameworks that can attract investment in renewable energy and green industries. Parliamentarians from six African countries will share notes on how Namibia got to this point and discuss how these lessons can be adapted to support green energy development across the continent. The programme features practical capacity-building sessions, investor dialogues, and country-focused breakout discussions—all aimed at enabling MPs to champion the development of Green Energy Zones and Corridors back home. James Mnyupe, Head of the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme, will deliver a keynote on Namibia’s Green Industrialisation Journey. This topic is crucial for African policymakers as it provides a clear, locally driven example of how deliberate policy choices, strategic partnerships, and targeted investments can help countries leapfrog to low-carbon industrial development—while creating jobs, diversifying economies, and contributing to global climate goals.
