Join us on our 4-day family road trip to Yosemite National Park! We stayed inside the park at Curry Village, explored Yosemite Valley, drove the scenic Tioga Road, hiked the Mist Trail, visited museums, and watched a magical sunset from Glacier Point. Narrated by Evelyn, a 4th-grader using her free National Park Pass, this vlog captures waterfalls, lakes, meadows, wildlife, and all the fun moments from our summer adventure. 4-Day Yosemite Family Road Trip Itinerary 🏕️ Day 1 – Arriving in Yosemite Drove to Yosemite National Park using the free 4th Grader Pass. Checked in to our Curry Village cabin (with bathroom and two double beds). Evening walk in Yosemite Valley: Cook’s Meadow, Yosemite Falls (low flow in August), Sentinel Bridge for Half Dome’s reflection, Yosemite Chapel, and Superintendent’s Bridge. Played by the Merced River — the water was clear and full of tiny fish! Enjoyed the quiet golden sunset and the cool summer air. 🪵 Day 2 – Tioga Road Adventure Early breakfast, then drove along Tioga Road to explore Yosemite’s high country. Stopped at scenic viewpoints and Olmsted Point to see the back side of Half Dome. Visited Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center and Wilderness Center, got our passport stamp. Hiked nearby trail where rangers said bears are often spotted (we saw bear scat but no bears!). Found a crystal-clear stream with granite rocks—perfect for splashing. Relaxed and had a picnic lunch by Tenaya Lake, a beautiful glacier lake. Stopped at Tuolumne Grove to see the giant sequoias and walked through the Dead Giant Tunnel Tree. Returned to Curry Village for dinner after a full day of exploring. 💦 Day 3 – Mist Trail, Museums, and Glacier Point Sunset Took the free shuttle to Happy Isles (Stop #16). Hiked the Mist Trail to Vernal Fall Footbridge. Visited the Happy Isles Nature Center. Played by the Merced River. Afternoon indoor activities: Visitor Center, Yosemite Exploration Center, Museum, and Indian Village. Watched a short film in the therter. Evening drive to Bridalveil Fall — short walk to the base, where the waterfall looked like a bride’s veil with a rainbow in the mist. Stopped at Tunnel View, the most famous Yosemite photo spot (El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall all in one frame). Arrived at Glacier Point for a breathtaking sunset over Yosemite Valley. 🌄 Day 4 – Morning in the Valley & Heading Home Woke up early hoping to see bears at Cook’s Meadow (saw deer instead!). Hiked the loop to Lower Yosemite Fall. Walked more trails to Swinging Bridge and played in the sand by the river. Returned to Curry Village (took shuttle), had lunch, and checked out. On the way out, stopped at El Capitan Meadow and Merced River to watch ducks swimming and diving for fish. Final stop: Merced County Courthouse Museum (super friendly staff there).
