So I watched this video again, haven't thought about it in years. A few takeaways. When I did sub in the OEM bar studs, modded chain adjuster, OEM gas and bar oil cap seals etc. Those kit saws DID in fact find there way back into "Pro Level" service and some are STILL out there. I've been focused on logging where I actually have ROOM around the tree, so now run a 24 or 28inch bar & chain. STILL Bore cut. Matt did a little explanation as to why. So very little has changes there. EXCEPT I don't have those hedgerow trees much now. Back then I preferred a light 20 inch bar and had to do saw gymnastics to get the face cut as there wasn't enough bar to do things in a conventional way. NOW I carry a light saw with a 20 or light 24 inch bar and fell with a 28 inch bar. I have to room to operate the longer bars in the woods logging type work. A pro gives his thoughts on Bore Cutting & Reliability of Kit Saws. Not much to say....bar tip construction is way different from one brand & model guide bar to the next....A clue to how strong that system will be is the number of rivets. More the better. The Stihl's have 6....the Tsumara 4. Tsumara/Total bars don't hold up in situations where bore cutting is the norm. A discussion on Where I cut hedgerow Tree's vs. A Logger Premium Timber Approach And a fall out from failed Aftermarket Cylinders What this is really about is the different priorities of a Farmer vs a Logger. AND A Cameo With the Ultimate Old Man Saw ( Husqvarna 560 build from bits and pieces ) with a Oregon SpeedCut bar & chain at the end.
