The line you spool up on your ultralight rod and reel makes a massive difference. In fact, I would argue it is the most important piece of gear you pick up! The line is ultimately the connection between you and the fish, so it is critical when it comes to landing fish. That being said, it is also a massive factor in your casting distance, bite detection, lure action, the list goes on! In this video, I talk about all line types - monofilament, copolymer, fluorocarbon, braid, and polyester. There isn't necessarily a wrong option, however they all feature their own unique benefits. As for me, I plan to continue using primarily braid with a copolymer leader as well as experiment more with polyester this year.
