Nehalennia was a goddess of Celtic and/or Germanic origin, and was thought to have been a goddess and guardian of trade, shipping, the sea and possibly fertility, life and death. Votive altars dedicated to her have been found mosty in the province called Zeeland (Sealand) in the Netherlands, where the Rhine flows into the North Sea - though also further along the Rhine. Often she's depicted as a young woman accompanied by a dog and carrying a basket of apples. Today (not literally today...) a replica has been made of the temple to Nehalennia, nearby where it would've stood two-thousand years ago, in the Dutch town of Colijnsplaat.
