There are many heuristics that are used in practice to de-anonymize Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but it is often hard to assess their effectiveness given a lack of ground-truth data. In this talk, Sarah Meiklejohn (UCL) provides an overview of these heuristics, as well as new research to both improve them and increase our confidence in their results. About the speaker Sarah is a Professor in Cryptography and Security at University College London (UCL) and a Staff Research Scientist at Google. She is also an Associate Director of the Initiative for Cryptocurrencies and Contracts (IC3). She earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego and an Sc.M. in Computer Science from Brown University.
