Try OpenBazaar for yourself at: https://www.openbazaar.org/ Learn more about the company behind OpenBazaar at: http://ob1.io/ Follow Brian on Twitter at: / brianchoffman So I’m here today with Brian Hoffman who is the CEO and Co-Founder of OB1 the company that is developing OpenBazaar, a free online marketplace with no fees, no restricts and the ability to earn Bitcoin. So Brian welcome to The Cryptoverse. We are talking today because OpenBazaar recently released a major update in the form of OpenBazaar 2.0. But before we get to that can you explain the problem that existed in the world that required something like OpenBazaar to be created? I personally think OpenBazaar is one of the most important projects in the space in terms of actually boosting cryptocurrency adoption. I mean we call them crypto-CURRENCIES so they are meant to be used to pay for stuff. However in a recent blog post you address the issue of transaction high transaction fees meaning paying for items in Bitcoin has become impractical for low value items. How much work is it to add another cryptocurrency as a payment method in OpenBazaar? What does it really take? I noticed that there is the ability to pay with altcoins using ShapeShift but that just converts your altcoin to Bitcoin in order to pay the merchant does it? Is OpenBazaar in a place yet where it’s a credible place to sell stuff on? Or is it still very much a place where a lot of vendors are experimenting but not relying on it much for revenue? What are some of the features that were added in this new version 2 of OpenBazaar? Now, OpenBazaar itself doesn’t run on a blockchain does it? So how do you achieve this global peer to peer marketplace? What is the business model for OB1? My assumption is that you’re going to run it like other open source software companies like WordPress where you give the core product away and then charge for services. What is the most major thing that OpenBazaar needs right now in order for it to start reaching it’s full potential? Is there anything else you want to make sure we cover before we close? If you want to try out OpenBazaar for yourself you can go to OpenBazaar.org If you want to learn about the company behind OpenBazaar then go to ob1.io You also follow Brian’s sometimes Bizarre but often humorous tweets at Twitter.com/BrianCHoffman So Brian, until next time, thank you very much for being on The Cryptoverse.
