And what’s all this firewire stuff? Here’s an interesting retrospective on the evolution of using Logic Pro on a Mac, that began for me with a Powerbook G4 back in the 2004 era. When I pulled this old Powerbook out of the closet there was some doubt it would work at all. Back then, everything was firewire and I fortunately still had a MOTU Traveler and the necessary firewire cables. Firewire 800 was a strong feature before USB 3 and data transfer rates improved. Still, Logic Pro 8 was quite full featured with some leading VSTi’s and plugins included. The market for 3rd party plugins was small and there was nothing for free. This video includes some lessons about planned obsolescence and advanced in hardware that demand changes to the operating system.
