With the post-spawn phase of an mild early winter upon us, I found myself back up in North Central PA on two of the most storied, remote, and wild streams we have - Cedar and Slate Run. As the premiere Wild/Native Trout Freestone Tributary streams in the Pine Creek Valley area, I have always found it difficult to catch fish on my fly rod here (albeit I skip the crowded but more productive spring months). Landing only 3 trout - 2 Wild Browns and 1 Native Brookie - over the course of a day and half fly fishing may seem insignificant, but for me it was totally worth it. The aesthetic and scenic beauty of these watersheds makes it all worthwhile. Will definitely return many times to come.
