Simagic Alpha U 23m First Impressions I came from a Simagic M10 10nm base so it's where I'll mainly compare it to. I'm not really a reviewer, just sharing my experience with it. First of, it's surprisingly slimmer and has less footprint space than a M10. About the same length, but narrower.Weight wise, its a lot lot heavier compared to the M10. As with other Alpha series, the connectors are spaced on the sides. The huge power supply does not feature the quick disconnect cable like from the M10, just a direct 4 pin DIN cable. Aside from the Official Simagic QR, my NRG and Momo Quick Releases all fit. DRIVE: Being my first servo based direct drive, I immediately noticed the smoothness in turning the wheel vs the notchiness of the M10 stepper motor. I felt weak micro-ffb sensations from road noise and minor curbs; as well as sharper ffb forces overall compared to the M10. With this test at the Nordschiefe and Mclaren P1 GTR, I have set peak torque to 11.5nm. The base never got hot. When I tested at 23nm, the base got a bit warm, but never hot to the touch. It's nice to have a wide torque range and running it at low to mid ffb torque means its not going to work and stressed as hard vs a base running at max torque. But this upgrade also made me appreciate my old M10; as although the performance gains was very nice, the jump is not as life changing as coming from a gear or belt drive wheel. Upgrade to it as a luxury for immersion, not as a necessity to get faster.
