HMS Prince of Wales the second Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier and the Fleet Flagship of the Royal Navy has deployed on an eight-month mission and is leading an international task force to the Indo-Pacific. The 65,000 tons carrier will lead the UK Carrier Strike Group 25. The journey began from Portsmouth Harbour April 22nd 2025. In particular a UK F-35B fighter jet, flown by Lieutenant Rob Callaway, made a historic landing on Japan's JS Kaga helicopter carrier which is currently transitioning to fully operate F-35B jets. The trilateral exercise also included USS America, JS Kaga and of course HMS Prince Of Wales as they sailed through the North Philippine Sea. Also sailing with these carriers was USS George Washington, a Nimitz class Super Carrier. This marked the first time a British F-35B operated from a Japanese vessel, signifying strengthened interoperability between the two nations and the US in the Indo-Pacific region. The landing was part of the nine-day multinational Operation Highmast, with a USMC F-35B also landing on the Kaga.  Lots more footage, news and pictures to follow as the UK Carrier Strike Group progresses its 8th month deployment.
