Our walk started on a beautiful October morning, parking in Blackness. We headed towards Blackness Castle and onto part of the John Muir Way. Our intended destination was Midhope Castle and we’d purchased tickets in advance to access the grounds. Midhope Castle ( Lallybroch) became a popular visitor destination after it was chosen as a film set for the series Outlander in 2013. Blackness castle also features regularly in the series. Having read all the books (I think there’s 9) and owning all the DVDs, I’m a huge fan! The castle isn’t open to the public and there are no facilities on site. Blackness castle is however open, with a range of facilities and is owned by Historic Scotland. Our walk returned the same route however we took a detour into Hopetoun Estate to look at trees and deer. The walk was around 6 miles. Tickets for Midhope can be purchased using this link https://hopetoun.co.uk/estate/outland... My videos are not intended to be an exact guide to any hill, mountain or low level walk that features in the video. I don’t cover every aspect of the route, terrain or difficulties. Please refer to walkhighlands.co.uk or the book by the SMC, The Munros - Hillwalking Guide, for detailed walk descriptions. Stay safe out there and enjoy! 😊
