Since Boards of Canada, in interviews, have said they use a bunch of pedals, I thought about how they must have recorded their synths and realized (duh) that they would plug the line out of a hardware synth into an amp connected to a speaker and then record the speaker with a mic into a recorder. Makes sense, I think. So I theorized some amps and speakers they may have had and replicated these in Overloud's TH-U. At the end of the video I also put a potential string of pedals they could have used in front of the amp and speaker. Although I'm using a random synth here, it sounds plausible. In general, the amp and speaker setup gives the sound of a synth played through it an extra edge that I think brings any synth I play a lot closer to reality. So, I'm thinking of using this kind of setup for any of my synth compositions going forward as I am really liking the sound a whole lot better. Its warmer and nice, I think. See what you think.
