In May (2023), Canon released a new full-frame mirrorless camera; the EOS R8. Having recently purchased it, I tested it under the Bortle class 7+ skies of Yokohama with the RF 35mm F/1.8 prime focus lens. Thanks to smartly designed digital tools, manual focus was exceedingly accurate and easy to operate. Star images were remarkably pinpoint and surprisingly, I could even capture some faint images of the Milky Way under the city skies. The low-light video performance was very impressive compared to smartphone video images.
