Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 GM 10Bit 4K Video Test (Shot on ZV-E1) Finally back to Melbourne to do my new Sony 50mm video. I did a compact version FE 50mm f/2.5 G lens 2 years ago. It’s time to do a new one. And this time, we have the FE 50mm f/1.4 GM. So you may ask, why f/1.4 not the f/1.2 version. For me it’s always the same answer. The weight. Of course the f/1.2 gives you creamer bokeh. But it is also extra 200g. Some of you may think 200g is nothing. But for me it’s a lot. Consider I don’t just carry one lens with me when I travel. Also I have had the Canon f/1.2 version before, and I found myself stopping down to f/1.4 or f/2 anyway. So I rather go for a f/1.4 GM. So what about the image quality? Yea, as it is a GM lens. The image quality is spectacular. It’s super sharp even wide open. And it balances really well on the ZV-E1. Not front heavy at all. Over all, I think this is a really nice lens. And 50mm just makes everything look cinematic. Note: I didn’t expect Melbourne to be that bright during my short trip. It was 37’c and super sunny the whole time. So I had to stop it down a lot of the shots during the day.
