In this scorching summer, I visited a large market in the northern suburbs of Chongqing, China (Wangjiabao Market). This market holds a bustling gathering day every three days. The market is rich and diverse in food, offering stir-fried pork intestines, crispy fried pork, fried chicken, and small fried fish, as well as potato pancakes, corn pancakes, Tujia sauce-flavored pancakes, pork-filled pancakes, beef jerky, roasted duck, and roasted rabbit. These freshly made delicacies emit enticing aromas that make your mouth water. Apart from the delicious food, there are various fruits and snacks in the market, especially watermelons which are particularly popular in summer. The market has both fixed stalls and numerous small vendors weaving through the crowd. Some shout loudly to attract customers, some clap their hands, and others strike iron blocks to grab attention. The entire market is full of life and energy. Each vendor works diligently under the scorching sun, their clothes soaked with sweat, yet their faces still wear smiles, commanding respect. This market tour not only opened my eyes but also deeply impressed me with the diligence and wisdom of the Chongqing people.
