CONSIDER SUPPORTING MY CHANNEL BY BECOMING A PATREON https://www.patreon.com/ramuniviking?... A perfect day in Valhal for a Viking Warrior. Explanation of the rules below: Every year in November our Viking Fight Reenactment Group RIPA gather for a social training event at Ribe Viking Center. Its a chance for our new members to taste the reenactment and historical living aspect of the sport. Its a day of friendship, sportsmanship, hard training, cooking and feasting in the longhouse. What more can a young aspiring warrior wish for. And we are lucky to borrow these magnificent facilities at Ribe Viking Center. Viking Fighting is a modern day sport with steel weapons based on real viking age weapons but with blund edges and slightly rounded corners and tips. When not in a living history setting its trained in modern clothes and with modern shoes just like any other martial art or contact sport. Its semi-contact - meaning that we hit with controlled force at full speed not to injure each other. No armour or protection is worn aside from guards for lower arm and padded gloves. So the fine art is to hit with high speed and precision and ensure that your opponent knows he is dead but with out giving him too many bruises or pain. It requires a lot of training to gain this skill and form. Each weapon has designated target zones where any contact with the cutting edge of a sword, knife or axe or the tip of a spear will kill. Your goal is to defend yourself from hits while obtaining a chance to strike a kill at your opponent. One hit within the target zone wins the figtht. With a lot of diciplin and sportsmansship this combat style with these rules and target zones can be applied to various differents fighting situations. 1v1 or everybody versus everybody smaller groups against smaller groups large scale battles of big armies up to 300v300 or more open field combat fighting in confined spaces with obstacles and many other situations and its possible to try different tactics and games Its then up to the teams form, tactics, weapons combinations, line formations, commanding and dividing experience and skill to dominate the other team and killing all their fighters and keeping as many of your own alive as possible. Weapons and target zones Swords, 1 hand axes, knifes and 2 hand axes kills by striking the enemy on the torso or upper legs. The 1 or 2 handed spears kills on torso only. For protection we use shields in differents sizes. Hits to lower legs, arms and hands are not kills and we dont hit for these zones on purpose but accidental hits do occour. Any contact with your weapon, shaft, body or shield to your opponents face or neck is a disqualifying move and the result is your own death. We dont fight with judges but rely on honour, respect and good sense. Accidents happen but are very rare. Bruises and smaller injuries happen more regularly and is considered a part of the game. It might look dangerous but we believe more injuries and severe damage happens in other sports like football and the like. All music played by me.
