CBI moves SC to seek custody of Bengal cop Rajeev Kumar in connection with Saradha chit fund scam

Central Bureau of Investigation has moved the Supreme Court, seeking the arrest of former Kolkata top cop Rajeev Kumar. Rajeev Kumar was named in the multi-crore Saradha scam case. The premier agency has claimed that the top cop is not co-operating with them in the investigation and has been evasive. Rajeev Kumar has been out on bail since the last year. CBI has also stated that Rajeev Kumar is crucial to the case, in order to unravel the links between Saradha group directors and the TMC leaders. CBI filed a fresh application last night. This comes at a time when the Bengal polls of 2021 are close.
