Hello Everyone, Welcome to part 2 of my hull extension project where I'm converting my 1993 Australian built Blackfin boat from a sterndrive to twin outboard power. I've had the entire design engineered properly by naval architects to ensure we get the fibreglass laminates right and the structural design done properly. I'll be using Thermolite and an FF360 foam core for a timber replacement on the transom, bulkheads, stringers - longitudinal structure and floor. We're trying to ensure we keep weight in place where it needs to be and remove weight in areas to assist with stability. The fibreglass will consist of CSM (chopped strand matt), woven rovings and biaxial cloth. The resin will be Vinyl Ester resin throughout. I'll be raising the floor approximately 25mm about 1 inch to allow water to flow out the scuppers better than it did previously. The floor will be made from FF360 which is H60 foam core with 1050 laminates on either side. In addition to this I'll be adding a fuel tank with an expanded capacity to 800L but I haven't made the decision regarding whether or not I'll use Vinyl ester resin for the tank build or simply have an aluminium tank built. I'll be adding underfloor storage in the form of fibreglass coolers or eskies and kill tanks. In addition to all of this I'm looking to add a Gyro stabiliser, but this may be done at a later date. Unfortunately the weather has delayed the project considerably. From 2 cyclones passing over the Queensland coast to now dealing with rain events there's not a lot I can do because the boat is outside, not great. I'm concentrating at lot of my time to designing the electrical systems that will be installed and possibly cutting all my stringers, bulkheads and other structure to get it ready for when the rain clears and I can return to fibreglassing, but for now i need to wait for the weather to clear. I hope you enjoy this video and I hope you get some useful content from it and if you do please remember to subscribe so I can continue on the journey.
