Yeah, it's been a bit since I posted a video. I got a job, university is on full insanity mode plus I'm handling VLDCX. But that does not mean I stopped working on Touhou Mario 2! Lately I'm been interested in learning more about the Mode 7 possibilities and inspired by some SNES games and even Touhou too, their 3dish levels, decided to me give a try and make a Mode 7 Level Mode. Basically the foreground is renderer to the sprite layer instead of Layer 1. It's dynamic so you still edit the level normally in Lunar Magic and you can have all kinds of map16 tiles and behavior. The game thinks it's on layer 1 normally. The only major limitation here are the sprite limits itself and slowdown, even with SA-1. For this level, Eevee made a mode 7 background inspired on the original stage 5 from Touhou 12 and then using some new tools I coded I made a mode 7 projection that looks good and at same time remind of the original game. And then I put some extra clouds and HDMA trickerly for the smooth layer change on horizon (between mode 7 and mode 1), making able to you still have a second background and the status bar together. I hope you like it! I might release the tools used for editing, creating and projecting mode 7 tilemaps at some point. It's literally a Mode 7 tool.
