Ko me je prijatelj Jure povabil na ribolov sulca na reki Savi v okolici Ljubljane, sem vedel, da bo to poseben dan. Zgodaj zjutraj sem šel po ribiško dovolilnico, nato pa sem pobral Jureta in skupaj sva se odpravila do prve ribolovne lokacije. Avto sva pustila le dve minuti hoje stran od ribolovne pozicije. Ko sva prispela, mi je Jure pokazal točno mesto, kjer so sulci najverjetneje zadržujejo, in mi natančno pokazal, kam naj vržem. Ob izvedenem prvem metu mi je Jure svetoval, kako naj nadzorujem umetno vabo, in med tem se je zgodil prijem! Sprva sem pomislil, da sem zapel za kakšen lesen štor ali skalo, vendar me je hitro presenetil občutek, ko se je ribiška rola začela hitro odvijati. Ko je borba postajala vse močnejša, sem se zaradi živčnosti, napetosti in premalo pazljivosti nerodno spotaknil in padel v ledeno vodo. V trenutku, ko sem obležal v mrzli Savi, sem čutil samo adrenalin in zavedanje, da če naredim še eno podobno napako, bom izgubil to ribo. Zato sem se odločil, da palico predam Juretu, ki ima več izkušenj s tako borbo na močnih deročih rekah. Medtem ko je Jure prevzel borbo, sem si slekel mokra oblačila, vzel kamero in posnel vsaj del borbe, da sem to lahko delil z vami. V posnetku ob 03:30 sem kamero postavil na tla, saj ni bilo več časa za obotavljanje – zaplaval sem v ledeno Savo, da bi sulca pripeljal do obale. Riba je bila v nevarni poziciji pod skalnatim previsom, kjer je obstajala velika možnost, da bi jo izgubila. Ko mi je sulca le uspelo pripeljati do obale, sva z Juretom hitro naredila nekaj fotografij, ga izmerila, nato pa sem se od njega poslovil, ga nežno poljubil in izpustil nazaj v njegovo kraljestvo. ___________________________________________________________________________ When my friend Jure invited me to fish for huchen on the Sava River near Ljubljana, I knew it would be a memorable day. Early in the morning, I purchased my fishing permit, then picked up Jure, and together we headed to our first fishing location. We left the car just a two-minute walk from the fishing spot. Upon arrival, Jure showed me the precise area where huchen are most likely to be found and carefully indicated where I should cast. After my first cast, Jure advised me on how to properly control the lure, and it was then that the strike occurred. Initially, I thought I had snagged a piece of wood or a rock, but I was quickly surprised when the reel began to unwind rapidly. As the battle intensified, nerves and tension took hold, and due to a lack of focus, I clumsily tripped and fell into the freezing water. As I lay in the cold current of the Sava, I could only feel the surge of adrenaline, but it was then that I realized that if I made another mistake, I would lose this fish. I decided to hand the rod over to Jure, who has more experience with such battles in powerful river currents. While Jure took control of the fight, I stripped off my wet clothes, grabbed the camera, and filmed part of the struggle to share it with you. At the 03:30 mark, I placed the camera on the ground, knowing there was no time to waste— I dove into the freezing Sava to bring the huchen to the shore. The fish was in a precarious position beneath a rocky overhang, and there was a significant risk of losing it. Once I successfully brought the huchen to shore, Jure and I quickly took a few photographs, measured the fish, and then I bid it farewell, gently kissed it, and released it back into its kingdom.
