Kieft's War (1643–1645), referred to as the Wappinger War, was a struggle between the colonial province of New Netherland and the Wappinger and Lenape tribes in present-day New York and New Jersey. The Peach War, sometimes referred to as the Peach Tree War, was a one-day incursion into New Amsterdam on September 15, 1655, by several hundred Munsee, followed by assaults on Staten Island and Pavonia. Forty colonists were slain, and over one hundred, including women and children, were captured.
