If you are recording audio at home in a converted bedroom, you are in probably the worst type of room possible for audio quality. Square rooms with walls that are parallel to each other cause sound to bounce back and forth and create echo and reverb that makes it sound like you are recording in a bathroom. This is probably THE most common problem in home voiceover recording. Nothing screams "AMATEUR!" like bad room sound. The good news is that there are lots of ways to deal the problem. Acoustic foam on the walls, vocal isolation booths, foam baffles or even acoustic blankets you can hang around your recording space are all effective. But some of these solutions are SUPER expensive. What if you can't afford them? Fear not! This goofy method REALLY works. And best of all - it's free! This video demonstrates how effective it is. Sure, it's a bit cumbersome to drag a blanket over your head when recording your voice. But if your only real alternative is spending hundreds or even thousands on foam or a booth, it's kind of a no-brainer. This will improve the quality of your voice-over recordings immediately. We have several other tips for improving the quality of the audio you record at home in our free ebook (with videos!) - 6 Mostly Free Tips For Making Your Audio Sound Expensive.
