Playing a high value Elvis Sun 78 record on a turntable I purchased at an estate sale. It plays 78 records with great care and smooth as silk, works like a Swiss watch. lt is a Dual 1229 , and has a Shure 78 stylus tracking at 2.5 grams. This is the story of the Sun 78 record I have had since I was in Junior High, and had no idea it had increased in value this much. My cousin had a 1948 Wurlitzer model 1100 jukebox in her station wagon for two months that her husband was going to fix and never did. She said it looked like she was driving a hearse with a coffin in it,and was tired of it being in the back of the station wagon, so she gave it to me. This Elvis Presley record came with the jukebox. I managed to fix the jukebox, but at that age wasn't happy with it and foolishly sold it, as it played only 24 78 records and just one side. I did find a Wurlitzer 1800 that was in a fire very cheap and we as teenagers were quite happy with it, and kept it for 3 years. The Wurlitzer 1100 I sold has a value today of 8.000, so that was quite a loss. I wish I had just shoved it aside as with many other things I still have,,and let it increase in value over the years, but at only 15 I needed the money and the space for a later model that played 45's. At least I kept the record, and it shines like a new nickle, and really doesn't have any scratches. It is kept by itself in a 2 inch thick record book sealed with tape.
