Israel Launches Major Attack Amid Gaza City Takeover

Palestinians gathered on Wednesday (September 10) at the site of an Israeli strike on an evacuated residential building that was housing displaced people. Some rushed to a girl who sustained an injury to her face. Two Palestinians were killed and others wounded when the strike hit the high-rise building in western Gaza City, medics said, adding that the wounded were among people who lived near the 12-floor building. Dozens of families have become displaced again because of the destruction of the building, which also damaged tent encampments in the surrounding area. Israel issued warnings to Palestinians to leave Gaza City, an area once home to about a million people, as it tries to destroy what is left of Hamas, which has been decimated by Israel's military since October 2023. The evacuation orders caused panic and confusion among the residents of Gaza City. Some said they would have no choice but to leave for the south, while the vast majority of others said they would stay as no other place was safe.
