The Dunlop D402 is the approved HD tire for all touring models from 2008 and before. It's heavier side-wall construction is designed for the FL and bagger models that need the extra support. The Dunlop American Elite tire is the approved HD tire for all late model touring bikes from 2009 and newer. If you ride a Harley, you have to put a HD tire on your bike, as the engine performance and increased weight put heavy demands on your tire. You didn't go with a cheap substitute when you purchased the bike, so don't go with a substitute on your tires.
