This session highlights the improved understanding of current clinical challenges with respect to persisting symptoms associated with Lyme disease. This debilitating public health issue is prevalent in New England (and across the nation). This webinar was offered in joint partnership by LymeTV, University of New England, and Maine AHEC. Dr. Embers is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Immunology, Head of the Education and Training Program, and the Director of Vector-borne Disease Research at the Tulane National Primate Research Center. We've invited our Subject Matter Expert to guide us in a presentation on: Challenges to diagnosing Lyme borreliosis at different phases of disease Ability of Borrelia burgdorferi to suppress immune responses and how this may affect serodiagnosis Evidence for post-antibiotic persistence by the Lyme disease bacteria Role of immunity in treatment efficacy and the curative potential for combination antibiotic treatment For more information on tick-borne diseases, visit www.LymeTV.org.
