Interview: Robin Bengtsson on 'Honey Honey' and His Decade of Melodifestivalen Hits

We were joined by the fantastic Robin Bengtsson, who chatted about his excitement regarding celebrating ten years since his debut in Melodifestivalen with his new track, Honey Honey. Robin sat down with Culture Fix's Andrew to discuss the country-pop sound of the song and what draws him to the genre in the interview, which you can watch above. Eagle-eyed viewers may remember we chatted with Robin back in 2022 when he competed with Innocent Love; we couldn't resist asking him to reflect on each of his previous Melodifestivalen entries, including the contest-winning I Can’t Go On. The star delved into the production side of the contest, exploring how the staging of these diverse entries comes together, as well as his personal reflections on each track. Digging into Honey Honey, Robin spoke about what we can expect from the number and how he plans to bring it to life on stage in Gothenburg for Melodifestivalen Heat 2. Does Robin still feel competitive about winning the contest after his victory in 2017? The Constellation Prize star certainly does, whilst also appreciating that this is a brilliant chance to share his music with Europe. Robin also shared the story behind his recently released EP, Hometown, and chatted about his early country influences, including John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads and Shania Twain’s seminal Come On Over album.
