A year ago, a 31-year-old junior doctor was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s 138-year-old RG Kar Hospital. The crime sparked nationwide protests and led the state government to draft rules for women’s safety at workplaces. To find out what’s changed since then, the BBC’s Ilma Hasan spent a night on the streets of Kolkata, speaking with women on safety, their experiences travelling late in the evening and if justice has been served.
