Naima Khan chairs a panel on Islamic feminism(s) with Dr amina wadud, Dr Azeezat Johnson, Dr Naaz Rashid, and Tamsila Tauqir MBE. This panel was part of the first #RaiseYourGaze series at Inclusive Mosque Initiative, which included workshops and discussions exploring Islamic feminism(s) through the lenses of anti-racism, anti-imperialism, Black feminism, class, and queer theory. What we mean by Islamic feminism(s) is feminist discourses and practices that are firmly rooted within an Islamic tradition, and that take account of the multitudinous lived experiences of Muslims around the world (although in this instance we are focusing particularly on the UK). In order to do this justice it’s important for us to acknowledge race, class, sexuality, disability, etc among other things as they intersect with gender.
