A feature film on the subject of euthanasia, premiered on August 29, 1941, at the Reichstag in Berlin. It depicts the story of a young and beautiful pianist, Hanna, who gradually loses her bodily functions due to an incurable disease (multiple sclerosis). She cannot bear the extreme pain and loss of her dignity as a human being. Hanna's husband, Thomas, is a doctor who witnesses his wife's suffering and provides her with euthanasia drugs at her request. Thomas is charged with murder, but makes a moving speech in court, arguing for the "legalization of euthanasia." The jury finds Thomas innocent, and the film ends with the message, "We denounce a society that neglects the suffering of patients!" Director: Wolfgang Liebeneiner Starring: Heidemarie Hatheyer, Paul Hartmann, Mathias Wieman Runtime: ~119 minutes | Black & White | German audio (no subtitles) This upload is sourced from public domain historical archives (e.g., Internet Archive collections).
