With just one day to spare, I wasted no time and rented a scooter from my hostel, The Place, for a mere US$8, ready to explore every corner. My journey kicked off with a visit to the haunting Killing Cave, a grim reminder of the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge Regime. Guided by a local expert, I delved into the chilling history of this notorious site, where countless lives met tragic ends. Next, I set my sights on finding the Bamboo Train, a unique slice of Cambodian heritage. Despite a brief detour to a children's theme park, I eventually found my way and embarked on an exhilarating ride along the Bamboo Railway, soaking in the sights and sounds of this historic mode of transportation. Continuing my exploration, I made a poignant stop at a Buddhist temple that once served as a security prison during the dark years of the Pol Pot regime. Each site visited served as a poignant reminder of Cambodia's tumultuous past.
