No captions because, well, the gameplay was recorded back in 2019. I wanted to upload this when IS release Colm or Neimi in FEH (like what I did for Hector when IS released L!Hector). What I didn't expect is that they took 2 years to do that, so I can't really comment about how I felt during the run since I already had long forgotten about it. That aside, I could still give some analysis on the 2 units if you are actually reading this. --------- Colm: Matthew with a different design. From base stats to growth rates to even having a female companion with similar hair color/length, Colm is awfully similar to Matthew. Luckily, Colm is placed in FE8 where everything is much more lenient, meaning he is (slightly) better off in most aspects (mostly statwise, even his ending too, ehem..) compared to Matthew who gets the short end of the stick. Being an early thief, he is in competition with most early sword users when it comes to combat, like Eirika due to her being the main lord, Joshua being the stronger sword unit, Franz for being mounted, let's not mention Seth who overpowers everyone.. hence Colm's main utility is just to sneak around and steal/loot stuff. Then comes the dilemma of his promotion, since there's no point of having a second rogue since Rennac is enough to do the sneaking around, so Colm basically only has the option to go for the assassin route, in which case Joshua still outshines him in terms combat due to the differences in their stats. Luckily, Colm is still a better assassin than Marisa (although just slightly, but at least Colm has the availability). Despite how IS is nicer towards Colm than Matthew, but the class powercreep is never resolved. --------- Neimi: Rebecca with a different design. Similarly to Colm, Neimi also receives a slightly better treatment than archers in the previous games. Sadly, similar to her childhood friend, Neimi also suffers the same problem since IS never really resolve the powercreep issue within the classes. Archers in the GBA series are extremely tedious to use, not just because what the majority of the enemies are, but also the archer's base stats. They are always stuck with their middling Str/Spd, having to choose between having 1 Str short of a kill despite having enough Spd, or having enough Str but lacking that 1 Spd to double. This also applies to their flier prey despite bow effectiveness, where archers sometimes aren't fast enough to double the pegasus knights, or not having enough damage to pierce through wyvern riders high defense even when they doubles. While having the availablility and being the sole bow user early on, Neimi still suffers the same problem like her predecessors, being the chipping unit for the others due to the enemies in the early chapters being mostly brigands. Well, at least Neimi has the opportunity to grind in the Tower of Valni. Long story short, just abuse the tower (or arena if you don't mind your turn count) if you want to train Neimi with the least effort possible. Same with Colm too. --------- If you compare an archer to a cavalier that appears roughly the same time (Wolt VS Lance/Alen), (Wil/Rebecca VS Sain/Kent/Lowen), (Neimi VS Franz), you will realize how the latter are always given better base Str/Spd, sometimes even both, despite how cavaliers already have lots of advantages over the other non-promotes. IS sure love their horses, maybe that's why I promoted Neimi to a ranger since she still gets access to 30 capped Spd, swords AND Canto due to IS being biased.
