Typo in the video: Phase-lock between Rotterdam and Amsterdam is located at Bleiswijk. Not at Lage Zwaluwe. :D Too much editing had to be done this week. My apologies. --- Hi everyone! Welcome on board of a brand new cab ride on board the Intercity Direct from Breda to Amsterdam. It's the beginning of January and it's very cold outside! I also recorded the route from Amsterdam to Breda, but because of a big bird strike that video was not viewable on Youtube. 0:00 Shunting Breda We start the video at the shunting track in Breda. After I took the route from Amsterdam to Breda I took the train to this shunting track afterwards. Here I walked back to the other side of the train and made it ready for the way back to Amsterdam. Because of the big bird strike on the way to Breda registered the train to be cleaned after arrival in Amsterdam. Because of that this train will be shunted to the Watergraafsmeer at the end of the video. 4:00 Breda Now, let's start! We depart at 10.15 from Breda. Here we depart at the same time as the intercity towards Roosendaal. A few kilometers ahead our ways split up and we each travel in our own direction. 7:12 Breda Prinsenbeek 9:12 Entering HSL Breda - Rotterdam Just after Breda Prinsenbeek we enter the high speed line. Here we change voltage. At the normal tracks trains use 1.500V DC. At the high speed line we use 25.000V AC. Because we have the sun in our back you can also see the pantograph going up and down. A free bonus! 11:00 Phase-lock Lage Zwaluwe After we've passed the voltage change-over we can't set the high voltage to the train yet because a little further on the route there's a phase-lock. This installation separates two voltage sections on the high speed line. Just after we passed Lage Zwaluwe we can speed up the train to 160km/h! Intercity New Generation NS ordered new trains for the high speed line by the way. The ICNG. Look it up on Google if you like. That train will travel at 200km/h through the country. Only four of them are in The Netherlands now for test rides. It will take about 1.5 more years before they will be available for passenger. 12:56 Brug Hollandsch Diep and Tunnel Dordtsche Kil 16:58 Tunnel Oude Maas 18:37 Leaving HSL at Barendrecht At the end of the HSL we must again change voltage. Soon after this we will arrive in Rotterdam and from there we will take the train unto the north section of the high speed line to Amsterdam. 21:11 Rotterdam Lombardijen 22:11 Rotterdam Stadion 23:00 Rotterdam Zuid and Willemsspoortunnel 24:10 Rotterdam Blaak 25:25 Rotterdam Centraal 31:08 Entering HSL Rotterdam - Amsterdam On our way to Amsterdam I will give the train manager an update the train needs to be emptied on our arrival in Amsterdam because we need to shunt the train to the Watergraafsmeer for cleaning. Also you will hear me call the planners to offer my service to take the train to the Watergraafsmeer since my car is also parked there. 36:39 Phase Lock Bleiswijk 39:45 Groen Hart Tunnel 45:31 Ringvaartviaduct 48:19 Leaving HSL at Hoofddorp 49:50 Hoofddorp 51:04 Schiphol Airport 1:01:45 Amsterdam Lelylaan 1:04:04 Amsterdam Sloterdijk 1:06:10 Workshop Zaanstraat 1:08:20 Amsterdam Centraal 1:11:00 Amsterdam - Watergraafsmeer After arrival we must wait until the planned time for the train to be shunted to the Watergraafsmeer. I skipped this part in the video because there was not much to see in the time in between. After arrival at the Watergraafsmeer I will get my car and get home. The train will be cleaned and afterwards get back in service. 1:13:40 Dijksgracht 1:15:50 Amsterdam Muiderpoort 1:16:20 Watergraafsmeer I hope you will enjoy this new video! Have a good weekend and stay safe everyone! Cheers! More details about the trip https://treinposities.nl/ritinfo/2021... Can't get enough of this? Check this out! / machiniststefan / machiniststefan
