This amp started as a JTM45 Tremolo Reissue. Customer was never really thrilled with it so he brought it to a tech to have it modified to a 1965-66 year JTM45. Unfortunately the tech decided to build a D clone but did not ok it with the customer. Customer very unhappy. Customer is a friend of mine but lives in a different state. He called me up complaining so I suggested he box it up and send it to me. I gutted the amp and started from scratch. Replaced almost everything including transformers. Building a JTM45 is not rocket science but it does require a financial commitment from the customer and the right stuff used to build so that it comes closer to the real thing. Mercury Magnetics power and output transformers were chosen because of their specifications. The specs on these transformers are based on the original. The choke is a Hammond which met the spec. The difference in sound with the right spec is an eye opener. Guitar is a Les Paul straight into the amp. Settings were Normal volume 5, Bright volume 7, Treble 5, Mids 10, Bass 3, Presence 5. There is a rear mounted variable negative feed back control which was about 2/3 up. No pedals were used. Shure SM57 in front of a 412 Marshall cab with Celestion Heritage G12-65. SM57 to Focusrite Scarlet and recorded in Studio One. Reverb was added to the mix. 2-Gold Lion KT66, 3 JJ ECC83, JJ GZ34 http://www.rocknrollamps.com #jtm45 #Jtm45cranked
