Malaria is very common in sub-Saharan Africa, but it also occurs in parts of Oceania (such as Papua New Guinea) and in parts of Central and South America and Southeast Asia. P vivax or P ovale malaria may relapse because of hypnozoites of parasite in liver. To eradicate hypnozoites, to prevent relapse, we need to give primaquine. but primaquine can cause hemolysis in G6PD deficient patients. G6PD deficiency is the most common enzyme deficiency in humans, affecting about 400 million people worldwide, with a high prevalence in persons of African, Asian, and Mediterranean descent. It is inherited as an X-linked recessive disorder, and thus most often affects males. It is rare in women. so this presentation discusses about radical cure in G6PD deficient patients.
