I ran out with a few of my fishing buddies on closing day for rock fish and to pull my crab pots I had soaking in 200ft of water! We limited out on lingcod in about an hour using lures and irons fishing off the south and north side of the islands. I was fishing out side the marine protected area for those that inquire on how close you can fish to the islands its is 2000ft off the west side of the island the north and south side of the island are not marine protected. I prefer to fish in the southern areas due to the large shoals!
