A Tribute & Conversation with Wes Unseld (1981)

April 5, 1981 - One of two players in NBA history to win both Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player award in the same season (Wilt Chamberlain being the other), Wes Unseld played 13 seasons in the NBA, all with the Bullets, making five all-star appearances and leading the Bullets/Wizards to their only championship in franchise history in 1978. As of 2023, Unseld is 13th in NBA history in total rebounds with 13,769, more than the likes of Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, and Charles Barkley, peaking with an 18.2 rebounds-per-game in in 1969. Unseld was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988.
