Tesla FSDU Reverse Oil Pump Install

This video demonstrates installing a Tesla Model S/X Front Small Drive Unit oil pump after modifying it for reverse-drive applications using a reverse-mount bracket from Westside EV. The mechanical oil pump contains a regulator to ensure oil pressure doesn't exceed ~1 bar during normal operation. However, it only functions in the normal forward drive direction. When mounting a Tesla SDU in reverse orientation for an EV conversion, forward becomes reverse, and reverse becomes forward. This means the oil pressure will not be regulated when driving in reverse (I.e., new forward) unless the pump is modified. This is true for both front and rear small drive units. However, due to the design of the oil pump in a front small drive unit, it needs to be rotated 180 degrees when reinstalling after being modified.
