SAFE will be joined by our partners at Tufts Tisch College. Opening remarks will be provided by the Dean, Dr. Dayna Cunningham. Student researchers from the program will discuss their work. Bridget Moynihan studied public power for offshore wind and is published by Climate and Community. Sebastian Barajas Ortiz studied wind port electrification and is published with Bridget’s contributions by the university. Our moderator, Carlos Avila, is an offshore wind and workforce developer professional. He grew up in Salem when we still had a coal plant, and now lives in New Bedford where he has driven efforts behind building MA’s first offshore wind port. Once at the NE Ocean Cluster as the Business Development Manager, and now as the Environmental League of Massachusetts’ (ELM) Community Engagement Director for offshore wind, Carlos oversees community efforts on offshore wind state-wide. Our program includes a few words and an update from Crowley, Salem’s wind port developers, and from our partners at the North Shore Labor Council.
