I'm a urogynecologist at Lynn Women's Health and Wellness Institute, a part of Baptist Health. So my area of expertise is urogynecology. I focus on women's health and reconstruction for problems like incontinence of bladder, bowel, problems with prolapse or organs falling out after they've had trauma from birth. And I take care of pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis, and vulvodynia. What drove me into this specialty was it was an area that was up and coming and evolving at a time when OB GYNs were realizing that women needed specialty care beyond just what a gynecologist would provide. At the time that I went into the specialty, the gynecologist, a colorectal surgeon, and a urologist would be in the operating room for a single patient. But over time we, we developed it so that now I can be in the operating room and perform all the surgeries related to that specific problem. Quality of life is one of the most important considerations when evaluating a patient and what their goals are for their treatment plans. Quantity without quality isn't something that patients are interested in. They really wanna live a good strong life where they feel viable and vibrant. And I think it's really important to consider that when you're offering options.
