River Trent Barbel Fishing | Coarse fishing in England

It's day 2 of our September '25 trip to the river Trent, and things have not exactly gone our way. Day one was TOUGH, with a very low and clear river, and gale force winds making things particularly uncomfortable. Nevertheless, perseverance did pay off with a single, yet stunning Barbel making a very welcome appearance. Today, there is a slight glimmer of hope, as the river has risen a little more, and although still very clear, there are some promising signs on the horizon. Despite this, fishing is slow for the majority of the day, which gives us a nice chance to look back of how these biannual river Trent trips became to be, and look forward to how they might progress in the future. Despite this welcome distraction, all thoughts are well and truly fixed on whether or not this glimmer of hope will eventually contribute to more fish on the bank, and really get this trip under way.
