Devin and I met some years ago at the Trading Post Saloon in Springfield, IL or at least that is the first time I remember really getting a chance to talk with him. Both having more than we probably need in the way of alcohol we shared our feelings of biblical interests and personal experiences having a similar upbringing and convictions. At some point throughout the night we were socializing apart from each other and I noticed he had left his guitar out in the open where I was worried someone might take it so I yelled over to him "Devin, don't forget about your guitar. Don't want it gettin stolen is all" to which he replied just minutes before last call. "Let 'em have it. I am the music." I don't know if it was the Coors Banquets I had been feasting on, or the sincerity in his voice but it was a moment I'll never forget. Though those days are long behind for him, and even for myself those nights are distant memories as we both have sought out to be of sober mind; The other night I saw him for the first time in ages at an open mic at Boone's Saloon, a different bar, same town. And I just so happen to have my camera with me and was blown away with his playing so I decided to record a whole song of whatever his next toon was gonna be.
