How do you deal with your life when suddenly it turns out that your life here on earth may be much shorter than you thought? Because who knows how short that time actually is? And what do you do in that time? These questions have occupied my mind a lot over the past years due to my illness. For me, music is a means to organize my thoughts and give my emotions a place. I composed pieces on both double bass and guitar that reflect my inner world. I wrote down these compositions, after which I presented them to musicians whom I admire for their musicality and their perspective on life. … Each piece now tells a story – sometimes about the tension during a medical scan, sometimes about the relief of a positive result, sometimes about the lows of my health journey, and sometimes simply about the love for my loved ones around me. With gratitude, I look back on the collaboration with the talented musicians; Tessa Zoutendijk on violin, Dion Nijland on double bass, Yonga Sun on drums, and Clemens Horn on harmonium, and of course Rogier Grosman, who beautifully recorded everything.
