Dec 16, 2025 Within the past week, these new signals were finally installed here at the South Watt Avenue railroad crossing on the Central California Traction Company Sacramento Branch Line that is currently out of service and having a partial restoration project that's also part of the S Watt Ave roadway widening project. The crossing equipment is the same as Elder Creek Rd which was installed a month prior to this crossing and being the 2nd crossing in Sacramento and NorCal to sport Siemens S-80 gate mechanisms. This is also the 3rd crossing to rock Leotek EV Series LEDs in Sacramento and in NorCal. Note, this crossing isn't wired up to the relay case control box yet nor is it powered up yet. As of right now, S Watt Ave between Jackson Rd and Fruitridge Rd now has asphalt being laid in the new width of the Roadway. It looks to be a while before that makes it down this way as this section still needs the roadway bed laid before asphalt is. IMHO, I wish they would have waited before installing the median signals here at this crossing until the new width of the roadway is built or about to open as the current setup with the two lane roadway could have both signals struck if a driver loses control and that would be something if a signal is taken out before even being used as that sounds like some 2020ish decade dilemma and since the CCT Co. is a Shortline railroad, they wouldn't replace the signal right away and would be some time. Hopefully, the construction barricades and markers north of this crossing deter idiot drivers. Also, down the track at Tokay Ln has survey markers. That crossing is originally a crossbuck crossing so it's either for new crossbuck posts or gate-less or gated new signals down there or something entirely different. I also took a look down at Hedge Ave and as you see, no construction took place beyond this road but there are survey markers around the track ROW here on the NW side. It is said that a PDF is online that has a plan to revitalize this line and rebuild bridges on it within the Sacramento County region. I guess they are hoping for customers to come to this line so it can be used. -------------------------------- Timestamps 0:00 S Watt Ave New Railroad Crossing Signals! 7:36 Hedge Ave Railroad Crossing Quick Look 8:18 Elder Creek Rd New Signals Pictures Already Covered In Nov 2025 Update -------------------------------- Crossing Info City: Sacramento, California Line/Crossing Signal Owner: Central California Traction Company (CCT CO.)
